Survey Says: Millennials Love Mayonnaise

In a recent U.S. survey by the Association for Dressings and Sauces, Millennials or Generation Y (born between 1980 and 2000) came out on top as frequent purchasers of mayonnaise or whipped dressings in the past month. The survey, conducted among 866 consumers aged 18 to 65, revealed that 37 percent of those aged 25 to 34 (the older half of Millennials) purchased the product in the past month, nearly twice the next group of consumers—those aged 55 to 65 (typically the age of their parents)—at 21 percent purchasing..

Did you know that May is National Salad Month? Well, it is, and there’s no denying I love salads. Apparently, I’m not alone as 73 percent of American households regularly serve salads, and the sales of lettuce exceed more than $1 billion.

This year marks the 23rd anniversary of National Salad Month, an event created by officials of the Association for Dressings and Sauces in May 1992. During the entire month of May, ADS officials promote creative ideas for salad recipes to inspire people to consume more green leafy vegetables.

The International Food Information Council (IFIC) Foundation has completed its 10th anniversary Food and Health Survey. The 2015 Food & Health Survey: Consumer Attitudes toward Food Safety, Nutrition & Health has as its theme, "What's Your Health Worth?"

By examining Americans' attitudes about health and nutrition, the IFIC survey offers insights into topics such as how Americans perceive of own health, an economic divide on food-purchasing decisions, where health and nutrition rank among competing priorities, and ongoing confusion over dietary and health-related choices.
