THE ASSOCIATION FOR DRESSINGS AND SAUCES CELEBRATES NATIONAL SALAD WEEK: JULY 25 - 31

(July 2006) ATLANTA, GA – “Let your creativity flow and discover endless salad possibilities during National Salad Week,” says The Association for Dressings and Sauces (ADS). The Atlanta-based trade association of salad dressing and sauce manufacturers and suppliers to the industry prides itself on revealing the many health benefits that salads with dressings provide.

Whether as a snack or a main entrée, there is a wealth of health benefits you can look forward to when incorporating salads into your daily menu. Salads with dressing offer numerous health benefits and are a staple for anyone committed to eating healthy and maintaining a nutritionally-balanced life. Many standard salad components are an excellent source of fiber, which has been linked to a reduced risk of cancer. In addition, salad dressings provide an essential fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid that helps protect women against fatal heart attacks, as well as the Vitamin E our bodies need to maintain an optimal immune system. Here’s another benefit – salad dressings are and have always been trans fat free.

“Salads and salad dressings are so much a part of the meal routine that many people have forgotten the integral role they play in a balanced diet,” according to Jeannie Milewski, ADS’ Executive Director. “Not only are they delicious and easy to prepare, they are also loaded with important vitamins and nutrients.”

So, let your imagination run wild during National Salad Week and see what kind of salad you can make a reality!
